Official Hebrew translators
The Language of our Hebrew translators is the official language of the state of Israel as well as the liturgical language of Judaism. It is written horizontally from right to left. The earliest known writing in Hebrew dates from the 11th century BC. Hebrew was spoken in daily life until about the 4th century AD, when it was replaced by Aramaic. At that point, it was used mainly for religious celebrations. However, beginning in the mid 19th century, Hebrew began to make a comeback as a secular language. Modern Israeli Hebrew has borrowed many words from Aramaic, Yiddish, German, Ladino, Arabic, English and other languages. Hebrew has 22 consonants, as well as final letters and diacritical markings. The letters kaf, mem, nun, fe, and tzadi have a special form which is used when they appear at the end of a word. There are three long vowels, alef, vav, and yod. Short vowels, expressed as diacritics, are usually used only in the Bible, in poetry, and in books for young children and foreign learners.
