Day-to-day translation

For translations, the emphasis must lie on the "dual association" of the translator. On the one hand, the target text must have a perceivable link to the text of the source language, and, on the other, it must satisfy all the requirements of the person reading the target language version. The origin of the terms of the source or target language and culturally oriented translation thus has the above-mentioned dual link. Either the characteristic properties of the source culture or language must be presented to the user of the translation, or he must be provided with text that is unobtrusive in the target culture and language or satisfies a purpose, such as, for example, is often the case with marketing-related translations.
Things are particularly difficult in the case of translation of literature: thus, for example, grammatical structure of the source language can affect the style of the source text in an extremely extraordinary manner; if the text in the target language, however, is translated word by word, the style can become conspicuously different from the normal linguistic usage, which creates doubt in the mind of the user and causes irritation.

Subjectivity of the translator

Subjective factors have a role to play in any translation process:

- on the one hand, with the decision of the translator regarding the possible variants in the target text
- attachment of the translator to socio-cultural backgrounds (British English and American English)
- naturally by the interpretation of the source text
- by various methodical preliminary decisions for the process of analysis and judgment
- by the perception of the translator regarding the function, purpose or strategy of the translation

Philosophical background of translation

Translation is treated as a philosophical problem primarily by hermeneutics, linguistic philosophy and knowledge theory.
Hermeneutics broaches the subject of translation as the experience of distance and being different. Similarly, dealing with over-delivery and tradition, which is so important for this field, often includes the necessity of translation. Various scientists have pointed out that the translator is "only" exposed to his own mental framework, in which he must arrange the product of his translation efforts. Hence, it is just not possible to transfer the text from the source language to the target language. The translator must decide for himself whether he, on the one hand, adapts the text having a necessarily different impact to the target text and tries to conceal its strange peculiarity, or whether he, on the other hand, would like to clone this characteristic uniqueness using the resources of the target language. Both procedures are legitimate. It is not possible to decide which target text is "closer to the original" merely by referring to the basis of the text.

Regarding the fundamental issue of translation capability, it refers to the possibility of "content transfer", as quoted by Quine. He suggests the theory of Indeterminacy of the translation, which means that no objective preference can be determined between multiple options of a given translation. It also implies that a language, in general, can only ever be interpreted in the context of experience.
It is assumed that there is a fundamental possibility of translating from one natural language to another both by the science of translation and translation in practice. This capability of translation is related at least to the propositional content of a statement, if not possibly to every connotative meaning.
