English to Slovak translation
Slovak translation services. Slovak developed in parallel to Czech from the Old Slavic language. The differences between both languages are attributable to political barriers and relatively few. In this manner, Slovak remained only a dialect of Czech for a long time. Even after Czech developed into a literary language, Slovak remained only a spoken dialect, while Czech was considered as a refined language, and was used by the Slovaks as the written language until the middle of the 19th century. Despite this, the Slovaks never looked upon Czech as their own language. Thus, in the course of the resurgent nationalism of the Czechs and Slovaks around the end of the 19th century, Slovak, based on a Central Slovak dialect, became an independent high level language apart from Czech and parted its ways with the latter.
In the Czech Republic established after the First World War, it became one of the two national languages. The linguistic nationalism also prevented Czech and Slovak from again coming close to one another, even in the long years of a common state after the First and Second World Wars. The separation is now final with the independence of Slovakia. Owing to the larger distance from Germany, the influence of German on Slovak in recent times has been less than that on Czech. The introduction of English vocabulary on account of the globalisation and scientific and technical development, however, is also quite high.
