Background: The Greek language
Greek is the language of the Greeks, in early times as well as in the Attic, Hellenistic, Byzantine and modern periods. Greek, with is numerous dialects is an Indo-Germanic language, which belongs to the group of the Centum languages and represents the only member of a separate branch of this linguistic family. The antique language differs in many respects from the Greek that is spoken today.
However, both the old and the new version of Greek are written using the 24 letters of the existing Greek alphabet, which was derived some time in 9 BC from Phoenician. The Greek language and script had immense influence on the development of Europe: Both the Latin and Cyrillic alphabets were developed on the basis of the Greek alphabet, and there is evidence of numerous roots of Greek words in most of the European languages.
Our Greek translators are based in the following cities: London, Glasgow, Manchester, Sheffield, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Brighton, Leicester, Middlesbrough, Newcastle, Sydney, Liverpool, Brighton, Los Angeles, Oxford, Edinburgh and many other cities.
